Rum » Spiced

Rum is a distilled beverage made from sugar cane by-products, such as molasses and sugar cane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, which is a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak and other casks. While there are a rum producers around the world including, Barbados, India and Australia, the majority of rum production occurs in and around the Caribbean and along the Demerara River in South America. Spiced rums obtain their flavour through addition of spices and, sometimes, caramel. Most are darker in color, and based on gold rums.
