Scotch de Silly 25cl

Scotch de Silly is filtered and pours a deep brownish amber colour with a nice thick head. The aroma is initially rich, winey and malty, and later develops vanilla, banana, whisky and sherbert notes. The initial taste is sweet with a very full malty palate, and the beer is noticeably lively, but soon a tingling hoppiness develops: appropriately for a style, this doesn't overwhelm the malt character, which is also lifted by citric hints, and it certainly doesn't taste its strength. On the swallow the beer is pleasantly tangy at first, but soon mellows into a smooth, slightly buttery malt finish. Scotch de Silly is a very satisfying beer that manages to remain true to its Scottish inspirations while still showing a characteristically Belgian flair for flavour.
