La Guillotine 33cl

La Guillotine is Triple-fermented indicating the beer has undergone the not unusual process of being fermented, conditioned at the brewery then bottle-conditioned. More in the abbey triple style, which it is. La Guillotine pours a peachy-orange colour, and cloudy, with a white head. There's a very rich fruity and flowery aroma too, with more peach, a little citrus and traces of yeast. The soft-textured palate is orangey, perfumed and spicy, with lots of malt, traces of liquorice and some bitterness, noticeably high in alcohol. Swallowing the beer brings a sting of hops, leading to a developing back-of-the-throat hop flavour in the long and warming finish. La Guillotine is slightly medicinal at first but becoming rich with herbal bitterness that's softened by a candyish coating in the mouth.
