Gilberts LBV Port was created in an excellent year, produced by the traditional method of foot treading in granite largares, being bottled between the 4th and 6th year. Gilberts LBV Port pours a brilliant dark red colour, browning slightly towards the rim of the glass. lovely big nose of sweet, jammy red fruit. Full bodied and powerful. begins with smooth, spicey red fruit, acid and sweetness are nicely in balance. together with a hint of crispy wood in the mouth until the wine opened a little more. The finish is long, sweet and smooth. a tad alcoholic towards the end. This is a nice LBV and good value for money. The perfect match for strong cheeses and an elegant surprise if served with game.
