(Doppelbock) Krombacher EKU 28 33cl

Krombacher EKU 28 is a doppelbock from the EKU brewery in Kulmbach. It undergoes nine months' lagering. Krombacher EKU 28 has a beautiful russet colour with a big but fairly short-lived bubbly head. A huge aroma includes rich malt as well as more volatile components - cherries, grapes and pear drops (esters), all with a slightly sour, citric edge. On the palate it is immensely malty and treacley-sweet with lots of burnt sugar/caramel flavours. Fruit is also intense, red fruit especially. Aftertaste is tongue-coatingly cloying, with rich, sweet, puddingy malt and dark fruit. This is incredibly complex and powerful. Krombacher EKU 28 is not a beer to be taken lightly, but one that grows on you.
