(Alt Bier) Schlosser Alt 50cl

Schlosser Alt, The biggest altbier brewery in Dusseldorf. Pours a lovely ruby colour with an aroma of toffee malts, light woody nose. A big, fluffy rippled off-white head, with some lacing down the glass. Initial malt flavour giving way to a syrupy feel, with flavours of toffee and brown sugar. As you continue the flavours tend to be more nutty -perhaps hazelnut/almonds, which eventually surrenders back to bran flake/malty sweetness. Toasted malt and a little buttery at times with a good balance overall with a full, round mouth feel. There is some dryness on the top of the mouth, but it is not bitter. Sweet and malty finish with good balancing hop bitterness.
