Williams Bros. Black Ale 50cl

Williams Bros. Black Ale pours an almost impenetrably black, but with some little ruby hints if you hold it against a strong light, it has a tight-bubbled, off-white head. It starts off with a familiar stout-like nose of toasted malts, dark chocolate, middle-roast coffee milky, liquorice and blackcurrant. Williams Bros. Black Ale is smooth and full-bodied with rich, dark fruit flavours: a good, easy-going stout; nothing too challenging or intense, but reasonably satisfying and flavoursome. As stouts should be, it's lightly hopped, with a dry, moderate coffee bitterness in the finish. Deep, rich blackcurrant aromas become dominant as the glass empties and warms. Another very nice ale.
