Wentwoth Rampant Gryphon Strong Pale Ale pours a clear, amber hue, with a thick off-white frothy beer head. Deeply malty and semi-sweet nose upfront, lots of fruity esters. Rampant Gryphon Strong Pale Ale is seductively sweet with a floral hoppiness, notes of honey and cream. The mouthfeel is very refreshing; espcially when its strength is taken into account, it's deceptively light in body and quaffable. The balance and structure are very good, as the pale-malt flavour upfront is nicely attenuated by the hoppyness. And alcohol is not felt until the very end, a simple-tuned strong pale ale with lots of nuanced complexities to enjoy.
