Traquair Jacobite Ale 33cl

Traquair Jacobite Ale pours a dark brown colour with an immediate rich aroma of spices and heavy, sweetish malt. Despite the heaviness of the nose it is initially light in the mouth, that rapidly develops into malt and resinous oak from the fermentation vessels. The palate is malty and consists of lots of dark fruit and some apples, even citrus flavours. Towards the finish the hops come through, though the malt is still dominant, leaving a slight fruity aftertaste. Traquair Jacobite Ale is very palatable; remarkably light for its strength, while remaining very pleasant and complex. It is a good example of why Belgian breweries originally copied the Scotch ale style.
