Moorhouse Black Cat Ale is a dark Ruby Beer in the Mild Category, its Brewery name is a reference to the witches for which the brewery's home town of Pendle was once notorious. Black Cat Ale i's very dark brown, nearly black, with a fast disappating head and a faint, slightly creamy aroma. The palate is initially malty and spritzy with some liquorice notes and a treacle toffee sweetness, soon developing a bitter and notably lengthy roasty chocolate finish with tangy acidity from the hops filling up the edges. Like all good dark milds, it demonstrates the depth and complexity of flavour that can be crammed into these low ABV beers.
