Daleside Ripon Jewel Ale from Daleside Brewery who have since the mid 1980's quietly producing a small range of interesting and top quality beers. This is a brewery which seems to enjoy bringing out the best in the malts they use, and, on the whole, leave the hops to add balance and character rather than dominate the flavour. Ripon Jewel is no exception to the cause. This golden coloured ale is brewed especially for Ripon Cathedral. Ripon Jewel beer is well balanced and tasty. The palate is predominately whisky malt - as such it is quite smooth and warm with just a hint of brown sweetness. A pleasant, well made, outstanding golden malt ale.
