Grimbergen Tripel an Abbey Ale from Grimbergen. It appears that the Grimbergen monastery has little to do with the beer, other than a monetary arrangement with the Alken-Maes brewery to use their name. They had, for some time, paid other breweries to make their beer for them, and now a brewery is paying them - such appears to be the passion for Abbey beers! Grimbergen Tripel is powerfully fruity, with alcohol and fruit aromas as soon as the bottle is opened. Intensely sweet, this is a yummy after-dinner drink - packed with honey, yet set off rather nicely with a suggestion of lemony hops. Huge mouthfeel that takes a lifetime to fade away, releasing a subtle and ever-changing array of flavours as it does so. Not a classic maybe, but quite delightful none the less.
