Croptons Monksman Slaughter 50cl

Originally Cropton's Monkmans Slaughter was known by the name 'Special Strong' this powerful beer takes its macabre, title from the names of the brewery's barley farmer and head brewer respectively. Its ruby coloured ale with dark malts dominant in the nose. The taste is initially sweetish and malty, with fruit in the background and roast grain gradually taking over. The palate is very full and malty, smooth and rich and fruity rather than nutty, with traces of brazils and marzipan. The bitterness, when it comes, is well-balanced, and the resulting beer is a little heavy but not really cloying, finishing with lots of hops and a roasty, bitter aftertaste, with hints of liquorice.
