Croptons King Billy 50cl
On opening King Billy the initial hit is one of hops - Kent Challenger and Goldings. On pouring the head is minimal and short-lived. In the mouth, the hops are again prevalent, with a zesty, almost citrus twang. It is also very dry, and quite bitter. Aftertaste is short and hoppy. There is minimal malt and overall it is a little thin - unsurprising in view of its strength. However, it isn't unpleasant by any means, and for its stated purpose (i.e. a long session) it is very well suited. Incidentally, mixing the conditioning yeast with the beer gives it a chalky character. Oh, and for those to whom it matters, it is a vegan beer.
