Grimbergen Blonde is Brewed under licence by Alken-Maes for the Grimbergen abbey. The abbey's motto means 'burns but does not burn up', which is a historical reference to the fact that the place kept getting burned down but got rebuilt again. Grimbergen Blonde is a strong beer with a yeasty softness to the palate reminiscent of trappist beers and a tenacious, frothy head. It has a slightly hoppy aroma, which is less pronounced in the taste. It is quite sweet but not overpoweringly, so it has a certain depth to its taste with a strong hint of vanilla in the aftertaste. Grimbergen Blonde is very drinkable, but not in quantity due to the strength. A complex and enjoyable Belgian ale.
