Samuel Adams Boston Lager is a well-known craft-brewed lager from the Boston brewery. It is pale golden in colour, with a tight, quite creamy head and has a strong aroma of resiny hops (Tettnang and Hallertau), with a flowery twang. The flavour starts with a moderate toasty maltiness. Some grainy, biscuity malt adds a pleasant harshness, with a cereal quality. Samuel Adams Boston Lager on the palate has a good hop character - resiny, bitter, a little sweet, quite light or refreshing. Malt is present, but only faintly. Aftertaste is bitter-sweet and vanishes quickly. This is a lot more interesting than most lagers from big commercial breweries, an interesting effort.
