St Louis Cassis 25cl

St Louis Cassis pours to a bright purplish colour with a formidable thick creamy head. A steady trace of thick Brussels lace follows the liquid all the way down your glass. The aroma of the berries sweet mixed with a malt greets you. Immediately, the palate is dominated by the strong berry flavour, sweet at the front, with the tartness at the back, dry as they come, top is light to middling in feel. Some serious sweetness in there but not cloyingly so. St Louis Cassis is sweet and sour but very nicely balanced, very creamy and smooth, and the fruit flavours dominate all the way into the finish where the tart fruitiness is most apparent. Not an everyday beer but it acquits itself nicely as an apertif or maybe an afterdinner drink.
