James Boag's Premium, a European style lager brewed from pilsner malts. James Boag's Premium is fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers and employs an extended maturation period. These combine with a mixture of kettle and late hopping to yield a crisp pale lager which perfectly complements fine food. Try with fresh seafood. Notes: This is a Tasmanian lager brewed using water from the Esk River. It has a sweet, creamy vanilla nose with a pilsner-like hoppiness and a loose, bubbly head that lasts well down the glass. On the palate it can (unhelpfully) be described as 'peculiar' - a little malt, some hops, in general reminiscent of one of the better quality mass-market lagers. James Boag's Premium Lager has won wide acclaim since its launch in 1994, winning numerous awards.
