La Trappe Dubbel 33cl
La Trappe Dubbel is a pretty red-brown colour, with a creamy, fairly well-lasting head. The nose is rich, spirity, with chocolate and nougat notes. It is rich and full-flavoured in the mouth, with lots of spicy and spirit notes, although it is not too heavy. The alcohol has a gently warming effect as it slips down the back of the throat. La Trappe Dubbel Body is provided by plenty of burnt caramel and dark chocolate, tempered by lemons, oranges and a zesty sourness - the hops seem to result in sourness as much as bitterness. This is balanced by a chocolaty sweetness. Aftertaste is lingering sour chocolate. A good Trappist dubbel spicy and complex.
