Authentic imported Hoegaarden. This was originally a monastic brew. It also claims to be the 'original white beer' - this probably refers to the fact that the original Hoegaarden was revived in the 1960s, sparking off a general revival of the style. Hoegaarden has a nose that is tart - rich with apples, cinnamon and coriander. It has a thick, frothy head and a light, refreshing creamy palate with very little bitterness or hop content. Aftertaste is of cream, with a hint of bitterness (possibly from the curacao orange zest used in the brewing process). Hoegaarden Witbier is one of the best Belgian white beer available, a great session beer, a classic example of the genre, complex, drinkable and refreshing
