Bunnahabhain 12yr Malt Whisky. Bunnahabhain's water is piped from streams in the surrounding hills and is therefore less peaty than might be expected. It is described as being sweeter than the other Islays, with a smooth initial palate and long full finish. Lighter than the Islay style, with a full round flavour. Contributor to Famous Grouse and Black Bottle blended Scotch Whisky. Nose: Remarkably fresh, sweet, sea-air and perfume. Underneath lovely soft sherry and crisp briny, malty notes. Palate: Delightful with an astonishing arrival of malty- sherry notes. Low-key saltiness reveals extra depth. Finish: Herbal. Sage? Comment: Appetising and remarkably refreshing. Remains salty with bitter-chocolate.
