The Arran Malt 1998 bottled 2008. Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland was opened in Lochranza on the Island of Arran in 1995. Nose: Creamy, flowery. Very faint fresh peat-smoke, there is a big malt character, clean and sweet. Palate: Again, immediately malt-sweet and intense with soft, chewy cream toffee depth. A little grapey fruitiness also in evidence. Clean and dryish and nutty at first. Then creamy and toffeish, with hints of banana. Finish: Very long; malty with delicate spice. Light aperitif style with delightful nuances of apples and pears. Excellent sweet/dry balance. Comment: A lovely whisky for one so young. What will it be like at two or three times this age?
