Scapa 14yr Malt Whisky. The distillary was re-furbished 1n 2004 after being mothballed since 1994, now under control of Pernod-Ricard, a major part of the production is used in the Teacher's and Ballantine's blends. Nose: An essay in elegance with a delicate honey note attached to the malt and heather. The smokelessness and resulting lack of weight easily distinguishes it from a Highland Park, despite the honey-heather. Palate: Immediately malty and rich with a delicious spicy tingling of old oak. The honey holds the middle and interplays with the drier oak notes and juicier malt. Wonderfully complex. Finish: Cocoa-rich notes and biscuity maltiness makes for a quite weighty finale, and some curious smoke even wafts in from somewhere. A classic coastal style of malt, it has sweet, toffee edges with notes of heather honey on the silky-smooth palate
