(Speyside Dufftown) Glendullan Malt Whisky 8 year old 70cl

Glendullan Malt Whisky 8 year old, the old distillery stopped production for good in 1985. Nose: Intriguingly complex: kiwi and peach, pansies, peat and gentle oak. Dry with crisp malt, attractive notes of flowers, fruit, oil and a hint of smoke. Palate: Fuller and richer than the nose suggests. Dry start, becoming buttery, malty, nutty and lightly fruity. Finish: Dark chocolate and malt. Extraordinarily perfumy and long. Comment: Firm and smooth. Seems unyielding, then begins to develop surprising complexity, with moments of intense grassy sweetness and herbal dryness. A malt which has changed direction in recent years, probably because of the new stillhouse. It's nothing like as oily as of yore. The charm and delicacy more than make amends.
