(Speyside Central) Craigellachie Malt Whisky 1990 70cl

Craigellachie Malt Whisky 1990 bottled 2006. The character of Craigellachie is mainly achieved by retaining the traditional worm tubs. Although not immediately noticable, there are no casks of maturing whisky to be found at the distillery. All new make whisky is tankered away to be filled into casks at filling complexes in the Central Belt. Nose: Mature, cooked apple, quite chewy. Attics. Spent candles. Reminiscent of a chocolate chip cookie after being dunked. Becomes very sooty. Palate: Vibrant fruitiness and textured sweetness. More watermelon sweets and Turkish Delight With time a dried fish or prawny element appeared. Finish: Green, sappy oakiness some smoked fish. Comment: An elegant oaky whisky, but the dried fish element was only apparent after half an hour in glass most people will have glugged this by then.
