(Speyside Rothes) Caperdonich 1980 Malt Whisky 70cl

Caperdonich Malt Whisky 1980 bottled 2006. The distillery has never released official single malts, its owner Pernod Ricard having decided to use all the production for blends. The nose is clearly marked by a surprising freshness with some hints of citrus fruit on a malted background. With water more floral with a fragrant apple note like a Pink Lady. Almonds, Battenburg and a fading bouquet of lilies. Palate: Sweet, with floral, some nectarine and a dried hay flavour. Elegant oaky notes. Dark chocolate. Bread and butter pudding. Mixed spice. Cloves. The complexity in the mouth increases with a drop of water which reveals the clearly spicy character of this whisky. Finish: Drying, with grassiness and oat biscuits Lingering, sweet and so sherried. Comment: Attractive, light- to medium-weight.Clean, dry. Perfectly drinkable.
