(Speyside Livet) Balmenach Malt Whisky 1989 70cl

Balmenach Malt Whisky 1989 bottled 2007. Balmenach distillery was closed in 1993 but bought by Inver House in 1998. Inver House will not be bottling as a single until their own maturing stock reaches a suitable age. Nose: Good legs. A succulent yet floral nose: apples with custard, spice, sugared almond, marshmallow. Palate: Medium-bodied but juicy and elegant. The first hit is a spicy one, then a fragrant, floral yet chewy, mid-palate. Big, soft, pillowy. Heather. Honey. Sweet. Sugared almonds. Finish: Sweet then nutty Balancing peaty dryness. Warming as an open fire. Comment: Can whiskies be handsome and romantic? This is a seductive bottling. This can cope with plenty of water.
