Allt A Bhainne 1991 bottled 2005 Malt Whisky. The distillery was commissioned in 1975 to supply malt whisky as a component of Chivas Regal Blend. The distillery was expanded in 1989 and has a potential output of 4.5million litres of alcohol. The distillery was mothballed in 2003. Nose: Clean, fresh and lively. Pretty estery: flowers, pears, dolly mixture. All high-toned with some dried grass. Malty note with water. The palate: confirms the nose, with a kind of chocolate flavoured background. Soft, quite sweet (sugared almond), light and fairly creamy spirit. Fiddlehead ferns with butter. Finish: Short. mature. Green peppercorns. Quite assertive. Comment: A rare opportunity to serve this summery whisky. A well-made light and clean dram. A rather complex taste, different of other malts from that area is followed by a lingering finish. An surprising excellent bottling.
