Dalwhinnie 15yr Malt Whisky became famous worldwide because its owners, UDV, included the brand in their famous series "Classic Malts", launched in 1988. Despite this, only 10% of the production is marketed as single malt, the remaining being used among other in the Black & White blends. Dalwhinnie is a mellow, subtle malt. Yielding flavours of creamy vanilla and heather-honey sweetness, it finishes in a smoky Highland glow of surprising intensity. Nose: Restrained peat. Some grassy, moorland, aromas. New-mown hay, with hints of cream, honey, cut flowers and sweet oak. Palate: Lemon grass. A suggestion of dried banana. Dessert apples. Against a cereal-grain background. Soft fruits, vanilla, clover. Fairly woody with a dry mid-palate. Finish: Scenty. Minty. Appetising Honeycomb, cream toffee. Commen: It Seems to have become more lively with age.
