(Southern Highland) Blair Athol Malt Whisky 1993 70cl

Blair Athol Malt Whisky 1993 bottled 2006. The distillery has been a major part of the Bells blend since the days of Arthur Bell himself. Nose: A clean, uncomplicated and rather sweet sherry aroma. Creamy, nutty, lightly peaty. Palate: Again more massive sweet sherry and surprisingly smoky amid the malt. Full-bodied. Decidedly silky-smooth. Spiced cake. Candied lemon peels. Finish: Lots of flavour development. Smoky, rooty, treacly. Impeccable balance between sweetness and dryness. Comment: The obvious sherry ageing really suits Blair Athol. It is a malt that matures quickly, and this is very sophisticated for its age. A lovely whisky. About as uncomplicated as it gets.
